Zany duo Dos Fallopia comes to S.E. Michigan Pride

by Cheryl Zupan

Detroit-On June 8, Dos Fallopia, the self-described "outrageous kamikaze comedy duo," will perform at 2 and 4 p.m. at the South East Michigan PrideFest. The team of Lisa Koch and Peggy Platt are known for the way they combine music, comedy, feminist politics and general lunacy to produce an evening of wickedly funny commentary.

"We've only been in Michigan a couple of times, but we've always had a whale of a good time,” said Koch in a telephone interview with Between the Lines, a Michigan lesbian-gay newspaper.

Dos Fallopia will bring a variety of characters to life in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak, including a pair of British grunge rockers, "The Surly Bitches," and the dysfunctional mother-daughter country superstars, "The Spudds."

Koch and Platt are also known for their portrayal of legendary blues mamas "The Matrons of Blues." Other characters they have created include the lesbian performance duo "Mud,” featuring those "wimmin-only space" sisters, "Compost Morning Dew" and "Dolphin-Free Tuna
